Traveling to Samoa with children takes about 4 hours from New Zealand.

Samoa consists of two main islands called Savaii and Upolu we flew into Apia on the Upolu island and then travelled down the coast to Saletonga Sands which was an hour drive from the airport.
If you want to go out and do any attractions, it is a bit of a long drive, so be prepared to just relax at the resort, unless you don't mind driving around.
Activities with kids in Samoa
Local markets
We had 11 people travelling at the time, and they crammed us into a 9-seater van, so we had 12 people in the van (including the driver), which was an experience in itself. There was no air conditioning, and it was extremely hot outside. But those are the travel memories you remember, right?
Tu Soa
Tu Soa ocean trench isn't far from the resort, but the ladder was too difficult for our younger children at the time. If you had older children, I would recommend it because everyone who returned to the resort raved about it.
Turtle Feeding
We went on a trip to see the "turtles," but I couldn't recommend it because it's just a muddy pool with turtles in it, though you can feed them. If you can, I recommend going to see them in the wild, however I think you need to go to the other island. 2023 we plan to return and see the turtles in the wild.
Snorkeling
There are several locations to snorkel, and we did it right outside our resort.
Fishing Charter
Since we enjoy fishing, we organised a fishing charter from the resort with some of the locals. The experience of going out on the boat and learning from the locals more than makes up for the fact that we didn't catch a thing!
Additional activities
There are many additional possibilities as well, like the Alofaaga blow holes, the Piula cave pool, and the Papase'ea sliding rocks, to mention a few.
The kids' favourite part of the trip was seeing the pigs running across the road.
The resort featured kayaking, snorkelling boards that the kids could lie on and observe the fish through a plastic bottom, an island fire dance show, a gorgeous pool, and fishing charters. The weather was fantastic; it was 28 degrees Celsius every day (we travelled in April).
If you prefer to swim, dine, and rest, this would be the ideal vacation for you. For us, we like to explore out more.
We have a return trip planned for 2023 and the kids are older we hope we can see a few more sights. It was one of their favourite travel moments, and the kids always ask to return.
